Former Warden among five recipients for Honorary Awards

Former 牛牛资源 Warden Patrick Loughrey will be among five recipients to have Honorary Fellowships conferred at the College’s Winter Graduations in January 2024.

Former 牛牛资源 Warden Pat Loughrey will be among five recipients to have Honorary Fellowships conferred at the College鈥檚 Winter Graduations.   

Pat was Warden from 2010 until 2019, having joined 牛牛资源 after a successful career at the BBC where he was controller of BBC Northern Ireland and later Director of Nations and Regions.  

His time at included the opening of the Professor Stuart Hall building and the 牛牛资源 Centre for Contemporary Art. Pat will be receiving an Honorary Fellowship as is tradition for former Wardens of the College.  

Other award recipients include the outgoing Director of the Design Museum, Deyan Sudjic, and Justine Simons, Deputy Mayor of London. Awards will also be conferred on writer and activist Leila Howe and dancer Brendan Kearney during degree ceremonies at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster in January 2024.   

Deyan鈥疭udjic's  leadership has seen the transformation of the Design Museum from a small specialist institution to an award-winning museum dedicated to contemporary design and architecture.   

While Justine Simons, Deputy Mayor for culture and the creative industries, was the founder and chair of the World Cities Culture Forum, a leadership network on culture and future cities which has a membership of over 40 global cities over six continents. 

鈥疧ther conferees for honorary fellowships are Leila鈥疕assan鈥疕owe, the editor of Race Today which was a highly influential journal during the 1980s that became a significant voice for black and Asian communities. The publication and the Race Today Collective played a pivotal role in anti-racism campaigns. 

After a career as a dancer Brendan鈥疜eaney鈥痬oved on to a succession of arts leadership roles, including with Arts Council England and Greenwich Dance, before becoming artistic director and CEO of Dance East.
